Our flagship preserve in Farmville, North Carolina offers expansive, mostly flat terrain designed for traditional Southern upland hunting. This easily walkable landscape features strategically managed field transitions, providing the perfect environment for long, immersive hunts where your dogs can comfortably stretch their legs across open acreage.

2. Quail Ridge Hunting Preserve (Hookerton, NC)

Located in Hookerton, North Carolina, our Quail Ridge Hunting Preserve offers a separate, mostly flat landscape engineered specifically for optimal wing shooting. This Greene County preserve features highly specialized early-successional cover, making it a favorite for hunters looking for sharp, fast-paced action in fields meticulously curated to hold birds tightly for classic point-and-flush scenarios.

Pristine Bird Fields & Cover

Across both the Farmville and Hookerton preserves, our bird fields are engineered to simulate wild bird habitats. We plant a specialized quail plantation seed mix featuring Little Bluestem and Yellow Indiangrass to hold birds and challenge hunters. Every hunting field is bordered by mature hardwoods and pines with a clean understory, providing the ideal backdrop for classic NC quail hunting.

At Sandy Run Outdoors, we are passionate about the bond between hunter and dog. You are welcome to bring your own dogs to hunt either preserve, or you can check out our professional gundog training programs to get your retriever or pointer ready for the season.

NC Hunt Packages & Pricing

Sandy Run Outdoors offers flexible options for groups of 1 to 3 hunters across both of our premier North Carolina preserves.

Fully Guided Hunt Packages

  • Half-Day Hunt (30 Birds) — $550

    • Includes: Guide, dogs, and bird cleaning

  • Half-Day Hunt (50 Birds) — $750

    • Includes: Guide, dogs, and bird cleaning

  • Full-Day Hunt (100 Birds) — $1,500

    • Includes: Guide, dogs, bird cleaning, and lunch

Self-Guided Hunt Packages

Experienced hunters can bring their own bird dogs to hunt our open, easy-walking fields at a simple, per-bird rate.

  • Standard Self-Guided Rate: $14 per bird (10-bird minimum).

  • SRO Client Discount: $12 per bird (10-bird minimum).

    • Available exclusively to anyone who has purchased a dog from SRO or graduated from our gundog training programs.

Daily Hunt Schedule

We book quail hunts Monday through Saturday across our two properties (Closed Sundays). Choose from our two daily time slots:

  • Morning Flight: 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM

  • Afternoon Flight: 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM
